About Freedom Church

Our Mission

Everyone’s welcome, nobody’s perfect, anything’s possible. We believe this and try to best to live it out, with the help of God. We are an inclusive church and everyone is welcome regardless of age, gender, race, sexuality or ethnicity. None of us are perfect and we do not claim to be, but we allow God to daily transform us into the likeness of Christ.

We want to help everyone live the abundant life promised by our Saviour Jesus Christ, to achieve their potential and not let anything stand in their way.

Rev. Linda Tomkinson

Rev Linda Tomkinson is the Priest-in-Charge of Freedom Church Mereside. She is originally from Northern Ireland but definitely feels that Blackpool is now home. As well as heading the leadership team for Freedom Church Mereside, she also runs the Blackpool Ministry Experience and is chaplain to Blackpool Football Club. She has a deep passion for helping people fulfil their potential and enabling them to live a fulfilled life, promised by Jesus in the gospel of John 10 v 10. She also loves listening to music in her craft room which she escapes to from time-to-time to work on her latest creation.

Peter Tomkinson

Pete is the Centre Manager at the Freedom Centre, as a former soldier he brings organisation and a key eye to the role. His day to day running of the centre is wide and varied and you will either find him in the office, serving in Martha’s Kitchen or chatting to folks in the centre. Pete is also a commissioned Church Army Evangelist and is the Fylde Coast Training Hub Leader for M:Power. He lives a life transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit and he is excited about growing leaders for the Urban Church so that others will get to know the transforming power of our God who loves us. He also loves writing a good risk assessment!

Sue Taylor

This is Sue, our community evangelist, she is originally from Bolton but has lived in Blackpool and worshipped at Freedom Church for 3 years.

She often gets things wrong, but her heart is always in the right place ! Her school report often said “ Sue tries hard “ which is probably still the same today. She loves the cinema, musicals, shopping, eating good food and laughing…….. A LOT !!!!!!

Sue became a Christian at the age of 14 and has a desire to share her faith and to offer the hope that Jesus brings and the peace that only God can bring to all those she meets.
